Shift Brewer/Cellar Technician - Steel Bender Brewyard

Steel Bender Brewyard, a family owned brewery in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, is looking for a Shift Brewer/Cellar Technician to join our quality focused and growing production team.  This is a full time hourly position available immediately.  We are a growing production brewing facility, and are looking for a quality candidate with 2+ years of experience working in a production brewery to join our team.

Job description:
The shift brewer/cellar technician at Steel Bender Brewyard will assist the Head brewer in producing beer of the highest quality on a consistent basis.  This includes, but is not limited to, assisting in cellar, maintenance and QC/Laboratory operations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Complete brewing process in a safe and efficient manner
  • Monitor gravities, temperatures, and carbonations daily
  • Monitor, pitch, evaluate, and document yeast as needed
  • Participate in and assist as necessary with quality control and laboratory procedures to ensure production of high-quality beer.
  • Complete all process documentation completely and accurately
  • Perform CIPs, transfers, and use of the lenticular filters
  • Represent SBB at beer festivals and other beer related events
  • Work with Head Brewer to ensure our product meets our standards of the highest quality
  • Maintain cleanliness of all areas in the brewery by following cleaning schedules and SOPs
  • Utilize Slack, 7Shifts and other designated group communication tools to facilitate efficient communication across the entire production team and wider organization
  • Assist in implementation and improvement of SOPs to meet quality specifications
  • Undertake finished product handling (forklift and pallet jack operation for warehousing)
  • Forklift operation for loading and unloading trucks (freight and distributor pickups)

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift 55 lbs. from ground to shoulder high
  • Lift 110 lbs. from ground to waist high
  • Climb stairs, ramps, and ladders
  • Be able to stand on feet for prolonged periods of time
  • Work in small and confined spaces
  • Work safely with chemicals, adhere to safety procedures
  • Work in extreme (wet, hot, cold) environments

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in a production brewery is required
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work well with all staff
  • Basic mechanical ability and troubleshooting skills
  • Self motivated, and able to work independently and with a team
  • Ability to use Google Workspace applications and brewery management software such as Ekos
  • Flexibility in schedule to work early and late shifts and weekends as required

Compensation:
$18/hr probationary.  Potential $19.50 after probationary period, dependant on experience
