Pairing beer with food is a great skill to have. It will raise your beer appreciation to new levels and, if you work in an establishment that sells beer, it will provide memorable customer experiences and increase sales.
Mastering Beer & Food Pairing, brought to you by Beerology®, can be taken from anywhere, anytime, with any beer. This online course is an easy to follow, step-by-step guide that will show you how to master pairing beer with food.
It comprises five sections, each of which is divided into short, bite-sized video lessons. Each section builds on the content of the previous one, increasing your understanding of food pairing theory and improving your ability to confidently pair beer with food.
The goal is to fill your beer and food pairing toolbox with all the information you need to consistently put together great pairings, so that this skill becomes second-nature. Join KPU Brewing instructor Alek Egi, who’s also an award-winning brewer and sensory expert, to level up your recipe skills in this online, 6-module course designed for folks with some homebrew or brewing experience and/or a basic understanding of brewing.
What You Will Learn
• Understanding product specifications and calculating batch volume
• Selecting grains and malts, determining grain weight, and performing mash calculations
• Calculating total water requirements, including mash and sparge volumes, and making necessary calcium (CA) additions
• Determining strike water temperature, selecting hops, and predicting IBU (International Bitterness Units)
• Yeast management: propagation, packaged yeast, yeast slurry handling, and related calculations
• Calculating alcohol content, CO2 levels, and color; mastering natural and forced carbonation, priming wort carbonation, and refining your final recipe
